Google has officially rolled out the Google Meet for everyone. Earlier, the company announced that they will make the premium app free for everyone with a Gmail account. But now, Google is planning to integrate Meet into Gmail directly. The tech giant plans to take on Zoom, the video conferencing platform that became increasingly popular during the coronavirus lockdown.
“We’ve re-engineered Google Meet, originally built for secure business meetings, to make it free and available to all. Since making Meet’s advanced features free for all G Suite and G Suite for Education users in March, we’ve seen daily usage grow by 30x, with Meet hosting 3 billion minutes of video meetings daily. Last month, we were adding roughly 3 million new users every day. That’s why we’re expanding the offering to more people around the world, “Javier Soltero Vice President & GM, G Suite said in a blog post.
Anyone who has a Gmail account can sign up and start a video call at meet.google.com, for free. “To make meetings even more accessible and helpful, in the coming days you’ll also be able to use Meet directly in Gmail,” the Google blog read.

In order to make Google Meet more accessible to people with hearing loss, Google had implemented AI-powered automatic live captioning. “Google AI has also made it possible to provide helpful features like low-light mode, which can automatically adjust your video to make you more visible to others,” Google blog said.
