Jammu, November 21 (HS): In a bid to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the IIIM BioNEST Bio-Incubation Centre, in collaboration with the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), DBT, organized a dynamic one-day event, the Global Bio-India Road Show. This initiative drew over 300 enthusiastic students from various colleges in Jammu.
Under the esteemed patronage of Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director of CSIR-IIIM Jammu and Chairman of BioNEST Bioincubation Centre, the event witnessed the participation of key ecosystem partners and influential guest speakers.
Dr. Chhaya Chauhan, Senior Manager Incubation at BIRAC, graced the occasion as a special guest, shedding light on the pivotal initiatives undertaken by BIRAC and the Department of Biotechnology. Their efforts have culminated in organizing the Global Bio-India Road Show across all 75 BioNEST Incubators nationwide.
Dr. Shreya Malik, Domain Head of Biotech & Cleantech Vertical at SIIC, IIT-Kanpur, Akhileshwar Singh, a Chartered Accountant, and Er. Ankush Varma, Coordinator of IIIM-TBI, took center stage during the technical session. They delivered comprehensive presentations, covering entrepreneurship, the startup ecosystem, and associated policies.
During his presidential address, Dr. Zabeer Ahmed underscored the pressing need for nurturing innovation and fostering entrepreneurship within the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the instrumental role of the incubator in raising awareness among the local community through events like roadshows, hackathons, and city camps.
Over 300 students from colleges in Jammu participated in the event with remarkable enthusiasm. Distinguished attendees included Er. Abdul Rahim, Vice Chairman of BioNEST Bioincubation Centre; Dr. Sumit G. Gandhi, Senior Principal Scientist; Vikram Singh, Senior Controller of Administration; Ajay Kumar, Controller of Finance & Accounts; Er. Anil K. Katare, Principal Scientist; Dilip Kumar Gehlot, Store and Purchase Officer; and Rajesh Gupta, Administrative Officer. Dr. Gurleen Kour expertly conducted the proceedings, while Er. Ankush Varma delivered the formal vote of thanks.
