Lucknow, November 15 (HS): The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is taking significant steps to promote digital learning across the state. Substantial improvements in digital learning infrastructure are being implemented in council schools, composite schools, and Kasturba Gandhi schools. These initiatives include the setup of smart classrooms, the establishment of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) labs at each development block level (880 in total), and the introduction of smart classes through CSR, community participation, and other avenues.
Furthermore, teachers in council primary schools are being provided with tablets to enhance their teaching capabilities. The government has also planned to enrich the knowledge of both teachers and students through online sessions featuring experts from renowned institutions. These initiatives are aimed at utilizing digital resources for classroom teaching.
Educational content, evaluated by subject experts from the State Educational Research and Training Council, Uttar Pradesh, is being prepared for all subjects from class 1 to 8, in alignment with the syllabus. Distance education is being promoted through live streaming software such as YouTube Live, Zoom sessions, and webinars, facilitated by tablets, ICT labs, and smart classrooms. This approach aims to enhance the capacity of teachers and students through online sessions delivered by experts in the field of education.
ICT Labs will enable students to practice basic computer operations under the guidance of teachers and instructors, while learning management software and virtual labs will help them grasp fundamental concepts in various subjects through practical application.
A government spokesperson stated that a roster of 14 students from classes 6 to 8 at the BRC campus school and nearby schools will be created to ensure daily access to the ICT Lab at the development block and school levels. QR codes available in textbooks allow access to educational content related to 82 textbooks for classes 1-8 through the Diksha app. Additionally, the Basic Education Department and NCERT have made approximately 7,300 contents available on the Diksha app, which teachers will regularly use for classroom teaching via smart classes.
To further facilitate digital learning, pocket booklets containing important courses have been provided to both teachers and students. Teachers can access these courses by scanning the QR codes using a device’s HD camera. They can then educate students daily on subjects like Mathematics, Science, Hindi, and English by scanning the relevant QR codes found in the student pocket booklet. Educational content is also being made available through various development partners, including Khan Academy, MBibe Institute, Teachers App, and Read Along App, to enhance classroom teaching.
