Vijayawada, December 14 (HS): Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced a significant enhancement in the Aarogyasri healthcare scheme, allowing cardholders to access free medical treatment worth up to Rs 25 lakh. The revised scheme is scheduled to launch on December 18, replacing the previous limit of Rs 10 lakh.

During a review meeting held at his Camp Office in Tadepalli, Chief Minister Jagan emphasized the government’s responsibility to provide health and education benefits to citizens as a fundamental right. He instructed officials to inform eligible beneficiaries about the extension, assuring them that they can receive free medical treatment for any ailment under the YSR Aarogyasri scheme, up to the increased limit of Rs 25 lakh.

Describing this decision as historic, Chief Minister Jagan urged officials to implement it with a humane approach, ensuring that eligible individuals can benefit from the expanded coverage.

A statement from the GNIDA revealed that the underpass project aims to enhance traffic flow and alleviate congestion at Char Murti Chowk, a strategic crossing witnessing increased vehicular movement due to the rapid population growth in Noida Extension. The GNIDA CEO, NG Ravi Kumar, has directed the commencement of construction in January 2024, emphasizing a prompt and efficient execution aligned with the community's needs. Char Murti Chowk, located in the heart of Noida Extension, has emerged as a pivotal junction experiencing significant traffic influx. To address the immediate challenges, temporary U-turns were introduced on both sides of the intersection. However, recognizing the need for a sustainable solution, the GNIDA has conceptualized the construction of an underpass. The proposed underpass, parallel to the 60-meter road, is positioned as a long-term remedy for the traffic issues at Char Murti Chowk. The underpass will facilitate smoother vehicular movement for commuters traveling between Pratap Vihar and Surajpur in Greater Noida. The project aims to eliminate the necessity for U-turns, thereby saving time and fuel for drivers. The design for the underpass has been completed by RITES, a government consulting organization, as part of the city's traffic mobility plan. The GNIDA plans to implement the underpass based on RITES' recommendation. The underpass construction is anticipated to take approximately two years, with a focus on efficient project management and timely completion. Pre-qualification submissions will be accepted starting December 29.
