Delhi, 14 December (H.S): Elon Musk’s X Corp. is facing scrutiny after it was revealed that the micro-blogging platform banned a staggering 333,036 accounts in India between October 26 and November 25.

The primary reason for these bans was the promotion of child sexual exploitation and non-consensual **, which has become an alarming issue in the country. This surge in account bans coincides with a period of change within X Corp., with Elon Musk appointing Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO. In addition to the account bans, X Corp. also removed 2,233 accounts for promoting terrorism on its platform in India.

The company has been adhering to the new IT Rules, 2021, and has received over 1,000 complaints from Indian users during this timeframe. X Corp. has taken actions against various pieces of content that violated its terms of service, including instances of violent speech and hateful conduct, especially in light of the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. These measures represent X Corp.’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and responsible platform for its Indian users.
