Shri. Suresh Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation will launch a dedicated section namely “SWAYATTA” for MSMEs, Women, Artisans and Self-Help groups on GeM (Government e-Marketplace) on the 19th of February 2019.
SWAYATTA which stands for Startups, Women and Youth Advantage Through e-Transactions will ensure that Start-ups, businesses led by Women Entrepreneurs and Artisans are well-showcased and easily approachable on GeM.
GeM, the national procurement platform of India is the singular online marketplace for all the government bodies to procure products and services. This online portal receives visits and orders from more than 30 thousand various government bodies.
Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi the govt. of India has announced that in order to boost trade and commerce with MSMEs, 25% purchases from GeM will be made from the MSMEs. Further out of this 25%, 3% of orders shall be directed towards businesses that are led by Women entrepreneurs.
With a dedicated section such as SWAYATT, SHGs (Self-Help groups), MSMEs and Artisans will find it better, faster and simpler to showcase and facilitate their products and services to various govt. purchasers.
